Dhaka, Aug. 31 -- Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has held talks with the National Citizen Party (NCP) as part of efforts to ease mounting political discord and prepare the ground for general elections.

The meeting comes against a backdrop of heightened tensions, with recent clashes between rival parties intensifying the pre-election atmosphere, reports bdnews24.com.

The NCP delegation was led by Chief Organiser Hasnat Abdullah, joined by Senior Joint Convenor Ariful Islam Adib, Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasnim Jara and Senior Joint Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud.

Earlier in the afternoon, Yunus met with the Jamaat-e-Islami. He is scheduled to hold talks with the BNP later at night.
