Dhaka, Nov. 5 -- A young driver of a makeshift motorised vehicle (locally known as Alam sadhu gari) was killed when a speeding pickup van hit his vehicle in Jhenaidah district on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Abu Bakar Kallol, 30, son of Mir Abul Kashem of Jibne village under Chuadanga Sadar upazila, reports BSS.

The accident occurred around 6:00 am at the Dakbangla Bazar area on the Jhenaidah-Chuadanga highway, according to the Police and eyewitnesses.

Police, quoting witnesses, said Kallol was heading toward Jhenaidah town carrying fish on his Alamsadhu when the speeding pickup van hit the vehicle near Dakbangla Bazar and fled the scene.

Kallol was thrown onto the road and died on the spot.
