Dhaka, June 29 -- A youth was killed in a lynch-mob attack at Palupara village in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district allegedly for raping a six-year-old child.

The deceased was Habil Mia, son of late Abdul Kashem of Palupara village, reports UNB.

Locals alleged that Habil Mia raped a child of a neighboring house on Friday evening and then fled.

On Saturday night, when locals spotted the alleged rapist roaming around the area became enraged, detained him, and severely beat him, leaving him seriously injured.

He was taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
