Dhaka, June 3 -- A woman, who is said to be mentally ill, gave birth at a railway station in Jashore early Tuesday during heavy rainfall and was rescued following an emergency call to the national emergency helpline 999.
The incident occurred around 3:45 am at Rupdia Railway Station under Kotwali Police Station in Jashore, according to a press release issued by 999's (Media and Public Relations Officer) Inspector Anwar Sattar.
Station Master Babul Akter called 999 to report that a woman had delivered a baby on the station platform amid torrential rain, UNB reports citing the release.
He urgently requested an ambulance to save the lives of the mother and the newborn.
