Dhaka, Aug. 13 -- A woman was killed as an ambulance plunged into a roadside ditch at the New Road area on the Khulna-Satkhira highway in Dumuria upazila of Khulna district on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Moyna, 45, wife of Arif Molla, from Mautla village in Satkhira.

The incident occurred in the area when the ambulance fell into the roadside ditch after its driver lost control of its steering around 9:30 am.

Moyna and her husband Arif Molla were heading to Khulna by the ambulance for surgery to remove a tumour from Molla's back, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kharnia Highway Police Station Fazlul Karim said.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared her dead, the OC added.
