Dhaka, Jan. 3 -- The Minimum Wage Board has proposed a new minimum monthly wage of Tk 12,600 for workers in the iron foundry and engineering workshop sector, marking the first wage revision in over 15 years since the last adjustment in 2010.

Under the new proposal, workers would also receive a 5 per cent annual wage increment, along with a risk allowance for those directly engaged in the sector, sources said.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) issued a gazette notification on December 25, 2025, announcing the proposal and inviting objections or recommendations within 14 days of publication.
