Dhaka, Feb. 12 -- A total of 412 voters had cast their ballots at the BAF Ashraf Ali Shaheen School polling centre in Shewrapara as of 11:30 am on Thursday, accounting for 21 per cent of the centre's 1,907 registered voters.
SM Samiul Islam, presiding officer of the centre, said the turnout was initially low, standing at only 8 per cent by 10:00 am. However, voter presence increased significantly later in the morning, with the voting rate rising by 13 percentage points in the last one and a half hours.
Queues of voters were observed in front of each booth inside the centre, while long lines also formed outside the school premises as more residents arrived to cast their ballots.
