Dhaka, April 15 -- Police recovered the body of an unidentified woman from the sidewalk in front of the Sonargaon Hotel in the capital's Hatirjheel area early Tuesday.

The woman, believed to be around 45 years old, was wearing an orange saree, blouse, and petticoat at the time of recovery. Her identity could not be ascertained immediately, UNB reports.

Hatirjheel Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Shahin Parvez said that they received information at around 5:30am about an injured woman lying in the footpath outside the hotel. "We found her head severely crushed. She was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead around 6am," he said.
