Dhaka, Feb. 20 -- Two people were shot dead in a joint forces operation in the Chand Udyan area in the capital's Mohammadpur.

The dead have been identified as Jumman and Miraz, two known criminals from the Chand Udyan area, police say, as per a UNB report.

The joint forces conducted an operation on an attic in road no. 05 of the Chand Udyan area after receiving a tip that 10 to 15 "criminals" were holed up there, according to Inspector (Investigations) Hafiz Uddin of Mohammadpur Police Station.
