Dhaka, Nov. 3 -- Two people were killed when a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at the Gharinda underpass area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Tangail district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as CNG driver Saheb Ali, 45, son of Kashem Uddin of Akua area and passenger Abdul Alim, 60, son of Nur Mohammad Sheikh of Bhokta area - both hailed from Kalihati upazila in Tangail, reports BSS.

Police said a Dhaka-bound truck hit the auto-rickshaw from behind on the service lane, leaving passenger Alim dead on the spot around 2:00 am.

Critically injured driver Saheb Ali was taken to Tangail General Hospital, where he received primary treatment, and later died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
