Dhaka, Feb. 11 -- A good number of transport workers blocked Janopad intersection in Sayedabad area of the capital on Monday, protesting against the counter-based bus services.
However, they demanded the contractual bus services on the city routes.
The Dhaka Bus Transport Owners Association (DBTOA) launched the counter-based bus services on Thursday with a plan to run 2,610 buses of 21 companies on various routes in the capital.
Witnesses said transport workers, mainly from Turag and Balaka bus companies, staged a demonstration at the intersection around 10:30 am to press home their demand.
At one stage of the demonstration, they put barricades on the intersection, suspending traffic and creating traffic jams.
