Dhaka, Dec. 29 -- A group of miscreants attacked a human chain organised by traders against extortion at Karwan Bazar in the capital on Monday, triggering clashes and a brief chase between the two sides.

Following the attack, traders staged a protest with sticks in front of the Kitchen Market, while police and army personnel were deployed in the area to maintain law and order.

The incident occurred around 11:15 am on Monday (December 29) in front of the Karwan Bazar Kitchen Market, Tejgaon Police Station Inspector (Operations) Abdul Hannan confirmed.

Witnesses said attackers fled when traders gathered with sticks in front of the market. Traders then continued their protest at the spot, creating tension in the area for some time.
