Dhaka, April 9 -- The state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) sought allocation of 47,544 tonnes of rice to sell among 4.75 million smart card holder families at a subsidised price in April, sources said.
The government has been selling some key essential items, including edible oil, lentil, sugar, etc, among the 10 million digital card holder families through TCB.
In March, the commerce adviser instructed it to distribute 10 kg of rice instead of five kg. From April, each smart card holder can buy 10 kg rice every month.
