Dhaka, Feb. 26 -- An investment of US $902, supported by Start Bangladesh, in embankment repair, resulted in substantial cost savings for households and the wider community during cyclone Remal, according to research findings on anticipatory action before the calamity.
The study revealed significant insights-community estimates indicated that up to $5.86 million in assets and livelihoods were protected due to the embankment repairs during the cyclone, according to a press statement.
The findings of the study, titled 'Cyclone Remal: Examining Risk Layering and Cost Effectiveness through Start Ready, Start Fund Anticipation, and Start Fund Response', of Start Bangladesh were launched at the beginning of a symposium on Tuesday.
