Dhaka, Feb. 4 -- A Dhaka court has indicted suspended assistant commissioner Tapashee Tabassum Urmi in a defamation case, clearing the way for a trial against her.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah rejected an application to drop the case and ordered the case to go to trial on Tuesday, according to Khademul Islam, a lawyer representing the plaintiff in the case.

Urmi arrived at the court at 10:30 am. Her lawyer PM Mahadi Hasan then filed for the case to be dropped, bdnews24.com reports.

During the hearing, the defendant's lawyer claimed that she was not involved in the incident alleged in the case, that it is false, and that she is completely innocent of the charges against her.
