Dhaka, April 11 -- Several left-wing student organisations have expressed their "outrage" after the name of one of the major events marking the Bengali New Year, the Mongol Shobhajatra, was changed to "Barshabaran Ananda Shobhajatra".
The leaders of these organisations described the change as a "grave warning" for the country's tradition of free cultural practice, alleging that the interim government had "surrendered" to communal forces, reports bdnews24.com.
