Dhaka, July 23 -- Police have detained a tea stall owner for allegedly raping a seven-year-old child in Ramgarh upazila of Khagrachhari.

Ramgarh Police Station chief Md Moin Uddin said the man was apprehended from Patacchara Bazar in Rasulpur village under Upazila's No. 2 Patacchara Union, reports bdnews24.com.

The detainee, 53-year-old Md Shahin from Rasulpur village, runs a tea stall in the locality.

Following the incident on Tuesday, the child, a Class 2 student at a madrasa, received first aid at the Ramgarh Upazila Health Complex and was then transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
