Dhaka, Dec. 1 -- Bangladesh Bank has listed the newly-formed 'Sammilito Islami Bank PLC' as a scheduled bank, according to a notification signed by the central bank's deputy governor, Dr Md Kabir Ahmed, on Monday.

Earlier on Sunday, a meeting of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Bank approved the bank's license. Later, the license was officially handed over on Monday.

Besides, former senior secretary Dr Mohammad Ayub Mia has been appointed chairman of the newly-formed Sammilito Islami Bank PLC, which was created through a merger of five banks in the country.
