Dhaka, Jan. 7 -- Rampal Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant has secured the top position in electricity generation in December, the second consecutive month, according to a press release issued by the plant authorities.

The Bangladesh-India joint venture power plant generated 640 million units of electricity in December, ranking first among all power producers, including independent power producers (IPPs), officials said, UNB reports.

The power plant contributed 11.5 percent of the country's total electricity generation of 5,531 million units.
