Dhaka, April 16 -- Railway communication between Khulna and the rest of the country resumed after a three-hour suspension caused by a student demonstration demanding reforms in the diploma engineering education system.

Students from four polytechnic institutes in Khulna staged a protest this morning, blocking the Rupsha Express shortly after it left Khulna Railway Station around 9:15am, reports BSS.

The train was halted at Boyra Junction, leading to a disruption of train services across the country.

Due to the blockade, several other trains including the Dhaka-bound Chitra Express, Rocket and Mahananda Express were held up at Khulna Station.
