Dhaka, Oct. 3 -- Gas pressure has dropped in parts of the Gazipur zone under Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company, disrupting production at garment factories and textile mills, industry insiders say.

Titas officials say a fire broke out in a gas line near the Chandra intersection on the Dhaka-Tangail highway around 8:00pm on September 30, and gas pressure in the line has been kept low since then.

On Wednesday, a Titas maintenance team detected a leakage in the 140-PSIG gas line while repairing it.

The leakage was found about 25 feet under the road and nearly 30 feet deep.

Company officials expected the repair to be completed by 11:00am today (Friday).
