Dhaka, Jan. 7 -- The government has increased price ceilings for procuring motorized vehicles by public-sector entities by 15-35 per cent between 2023 and 2026, reflecting sustained price hikes in the global automobile market.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) issued an official order on January 05, 2025 in this connection asking all authorities to comply while approving vehicle purchase ceilings. It fixed the rates on August 2, 2023.

Under the revised ceilings, the maximum price for cars up to 1,600cc has risen from Tk 4.5 million in 2023 to Tk 5.6 million in 2026, an increase of about 24.4 per cent.
