Dhaka, Feb. 14 -- Police on Thursday dispersed Narsingdi Textile Engineering College students from outside of Secretariat while they were protesting against the government decision of shutting down their institution.

The government decided to relocate the students to Tangail Textile Engineering College, despite the long-standing demand of Narsingdi Textile Engineering College students to bring the institution under Handloom Board's Textile Department for proper management.

Ramna zone Deputy Police Commissioner Masud Alam said police used water cannons and charged batons to break up the protest as students tried to enter Secretariat.
