Dhaka, Aug. 5 -- Police arrested 593 people during raids across the country over the last 24 hours - from 6:00 am Sunday to 6:00 am Monday.

Assistant Inspector General (Media) of Police Headquarters AHM Sahadat Hossain said apart from arrests, a single-barrel gun, three rounds of cartridge, and a locally-made 'hasua' were also recovered. He said legal actions were taken against the arrestees, and police would continue raids.
