Dhaka, July 11 -- The country's marine ecosystem gets over 87,000 tonnes of plastic waste a year stressing urgent need for finding a new sustainable waste management approach to protect its valuable natural resources.
Speakers at a seminar on plastic pollution on Thursday laid the importance along with ensuring coordinated efforts of all concerned for sustaining the country's reputation as pioneer in combating plastic pollution.
The Department of Environment (DoE) of Bangladesh, in partnership with UNOPS and BIMSTEC, organised the high-level seminar titled "Accelerating solutions for plastic pollution in Bangladesh" marking the World Environment Day.
