Dhaka, Jan. 29 -- The interim government would not allow any attempts to push the country toward violence, said Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Shafiqul Alam, on Wednesday.
"If killers hold any protest or rally, the people of Bangladesh will strongly resist them," Alam said in a Facebook post, referring to the Awami League.
His statement came a day after the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League announced hartals (general strikes) on February 16 and 18.
Alam accused the Awami League government of being responsible for mass killings, murders, and atrocities during the July uprising.
Citing an independent panel, the Chief Adviser's Press Secretary said that Hasina's close associates had laundered $234 billion.
