Dhaka, Jan. 5 -- An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck India's Assam early Monday, with tremors felt across Bangladesh and five other countries.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake occurred at 4:47 am Bangladesh time.
The epicentre was located 10 kilometres north of Morigaon in Assam, at a depth of 35 kilometres, bdnews24.com reports.
The tremor was felt in several parts of Bangladesh, including Dhaka and Sylhet. Shaking was also reported from parts of Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar and China, according to initial reports.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from Assam or Bangladesh.
