Dhaka, April 10 -- Agriculture and Home Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Thursday said the government will begin purchasing paddy on April 24.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters after inaugurating the paddy harvest in the field of farmer Ali Hossain of Gobindupur village under Sunamganj Sadar Upazila.

In response to farmers' demands, the adviser said that a paved road will be constructed inside Dekhar Haor to help farmers transport harvested and threshed paddy more easily, reports BSS.

Additionally, sluice gates will be constructed, and two power pumps will be installed in suitable locations across the haor to address water-logging issues.
