Dhaka, Aug. 8 -- Since 2011, at least 525 illegal high-rise buildings have been constructed along the approach paths of Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) and the old Tejgaon Airport runways, exceeding the approved height limits.
Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, disclosed the information on Thursday during a media briefing held at the CAAB headquarters in the capital.
However, he stated that the CAAB does not have the authority to demolish the unapproved portions of these buildings.
