Dhaka, Nov. 28 -- Production at one unit of Matarbari Ultra Super Critical Coal Fired Power Plant has been remaining halted due to a technical fault for last one week, concerned sources said.
Sources said the production has been halted for the past week due to ash accumulation in the boiler. It may take another month to fix the fault and resume production.
The other unit, which has a production capacity of 600 MW, is generating less than 400 MW of electricity per day now, resulting in a shortage of electricity supply in the national grid.
Officials at the Matarbari coal-fired power project said, after cleaning the ash, it would be possible to restart electricity generation from the unit by the end of next December.
