Dhaka, March 27 -- To support low-income citizens, the food ministry has continued its subsidised rice sale programme across the country.
Under this initiative, rice and flour are being sold at subsidised rates through 1,057 centres in city corporations, district headquarters, municipalities, and labour-intensive areas.
To keep rice prices affordable, the government has decided to increase the daily rice quota from 3.0 tonnes to 4.0 tonnes per working day in 401 upazilas (excluding district headquarters).
Meanwhile, in the three hill districts of Chattogram (Rangamati, Bandarban, and Khagrachhari), 1.0 tonne of rice per working day is being distributed across 23 upazilas.
