Dhaka, Sept. 1 -- The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Monday suspended its official Jannatul Ferdous Mitu and placed her on special duty as an assistant tax commissioner of Tax Zone-5, Dhaka, following allegations of serious misconduct in handling confidential documents.

According to a notification issued by the Internal Resources Division, Mitu allegedly received Tk 3.8 million for handing over a significant portion of income tax records-including previous returns, order sheets, assessment orders, appellate tribunal orders, and other documents-to the nominated representative (income tax lawyer) of Salah Uddin Ahmed, a taxpayer under Circle-63 of Tax Zone-5, Dhaka.
