Dhaka, May 4 -- Assistant teachers of all government primary schools across the country are going on a continuous work stoppage, demanding inclusion in the 11th grade salary scale along with two other demands. The "Primary Assistant Teachers' Unity Council" has called for this programme.

The programme will begin on Monday, May 5, and will continue until May 15. In the first phase, they will observe a one-hour work stoppage each day, according to local media.

On April 24, the leaders of the Unity Council sent a press release to the media outlining their demands to the government. They announced that if their demands were not met by May 4, they would begin a continuous work stoppage at all government primary schools from May 5.
