Dhaka, July 12 -- National Consensus Commission (NCC) member Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar today said the commission is working to ensure that autocratic regime does not return to the country.

"We have presented a set of proposals aimed at preventing the return of autocracy. We are calling it The Draft National Consensus Charter," he said, BSS reports.

He added, "We believe that necessary changes and reforms are needed in our electoral system, constitution, local government, and governance structures. These reforms have been outlined in the charter, which will send a message to the government that the people's opinions and recommendations must be implemented so that the re-emergence of authoritarianism will permanently be ended."
