Dhaka, Dec. 4 -- BNP chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia's personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain's mother has been critically ill and undergoing treatment in the CCU of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka for more than a week.

According to hospital and party sources, the 82-year-old has been suffering from multiple age-related complications. Her health deteriorated on 24 November, prompting her immediate admission to the hospital.

Khaleda Zia was admitted to the same hospital on 23 November. Both Khaleda Zia and Dr Zahid's mother are currently under close observation in the hospital's CCU.

Dr Zahid has sought prayers from all for their quick recovery.
