Dhaka, Sept. 2 -- The High Court has transferred control of judicial appointments, transfers, promotions, leave, and discipline from the executive branch to the Supreme Court.
It has also ordered the formation of a separate secretariat for the judiciary within three months.
The bench of Justice Ahmed Sohel and Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury made the decision after a hearing on a writ petition on Tuesday, reports bdnews24.com.
The ruling effectively restores Article 116 of the Constitution to its earlier form, giving the Supreme Court direct control over subordinate courts.
