Dhaka, Feb. 18 -- The High Court (HC) has questioned the failure, negligence, and inaction of the authorities of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) and others in preventing incidents of theft, damage, and loss of passengers' luggage at the airport.

It issued a rule on Monday to the respondents to explain as to why they should not be directed to form an independent and "extraordinary" committee to probe into the incidents.

The HC also wanted to know as to why the respondents should not be directed to take measures in compliance with the legal obligations and as per international aviation standards to ensure safety and security of passengers' luggage.
