Bangladesh, June 19 -- The High Court (HC) asked on Tuesday the government to take stern action against people involved in using harmful chemicals in fruits.

The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader issued the order after hearing on a writ petition.

The bench also expressed dissatisfaction over a report of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) made after testing the use of formalin and harmful chemicals in mango.

Advocate Manzill Murshid stood for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General ABM Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar represented the state.

Besides, two separate reports on behalf of the RAB and police chiefs were submitted before the court.
