Dhaka, Feb. 2 -- As in previous years, the government will sell essential food items at subsidised prices during the holy month of Ramadan to ease pressure on consumers.

Under the programme, beef will be sold at Tk 650 per kg, milk at Tk 80 per litre, eggs at Tk 96 per dozen, and dressed poultry meat at Tk 250 per kg.

The decision was taken at a meeting on Ramadan-focused fair-price sales held at the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock on Sunday, an official said.

Adviser to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Farida Akhter directed officials to increase the number of sales points compared to last year.

This year, the government plans to sell the products at 48 designated locations.
