Dhaka, June 24 -- The government has decided to amend the labour law by October this year to protect workers' rights and align with international standards.

"We will amend the labour law by October to meet the requirements of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and report our compliance in November," said Brig Gen M. Sakhawat Hossain (Retd), Advisor to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Shipping.

He made the remarks while addressing the Green Factory Award ceremony as the chief guest at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday.
