Dhaka, April 12 -- The government has stayed the sentence awarded to Md Shahedul Huq, a businessman, in a corruption case.
A notification, issued recently by the Ministry of Home, said it has stayed the sentence of Mr Shahedul for one year without any condition, considering his application, so that he can file an appeal against the verdict.
The ministry considered his application in line with the Section 401(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 - after taking opinion from the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, also said the notification.
