Govt likely to cut newsprint import duty to 3.0 per cent

Dhaka, May 27 -- The government is likely to reduce the import duty on newsprint in the upcoming fiscal year.

The rate of customs duty may be brought down to 3.0 per cent from the existing 5.0 per cent, according to sources familiar with the development.

This is one of the major fiscal measures Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed is going to announce on June 2, 2025.
