Dhaka, May 25 -- The government has issued the Public Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 amid ongoing protests by secretariat officers and employees.

The ordinance came on Monday evening, days after the interim government's advisory council approved its draft.

Officers and employees from various ministries staged demonstrations for a second day on Sunday, calling the ordinance "repressive" and demanding its withdrawal.

They have been protesting under the banner of the Bangladesh Sochibaloy Kormokarta-Kormochari Songjukto Parishad, a collective platform of secretariat officers and employees.
