Dhaka, Dec. 2 -- Government secondary school teachers have suspended their ongoing work stoppage, which was held over four demands including salary scale for ninth grade and the formation of an independent secondary education directorate.

They announced that annual examinations will be held "from Wednesday" in over 700 schools, bdnews24.com reports.

Abdus Salam, coordinator of the platform for protesting teachers, the Government Secondary Teachers' Association told bdnews24.com at 9:30pm: "We will give the government some time. During this period, we will complete the annual exams.

"After the exams are over, we will decide on the next programme."
