Dhaka, Aug. 31 -- Activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad set fire to and vandalised the Jatiya Party headquarters in the capital's Kakrail area as fresh political tensions gripped Dhaka on Saturday.
Police used tear gas and water cannons to control the situation.
The attack took place around 6:30 pm. Earlier, at around 6:15 pm, leaders and activists of the Gono Odhikar Parishad staged a protest march to the Jatiya Party office.
The party's leaders and activists staged the march to protest against the attack on Nurul Haque Nur, president of the party and former VP of DUCSU. At the end of the protest march, bricks and stones were thrown at the police.
