Dhaka, Oct. 2 -- Gas pressure has dropped in parts of the Gazipur zone under Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, disrupting production at garment factories and textile mills, industry insiders said.

Titas officials said a fire broke out in a gas line near Chandra intersection on the Dhaka-Tangail highway around 8:00 pm on September 30. Since then, gas pressure in the line has been kept low.

On Wednesday, a Titas maintenance team detected a leakage in the 140-PSIG gas line while attempting to repair it. The leakage was found about 25 feet under the road and nearly 30 feet deep, officials added.

Company officials expect the repair work to be completed by 11:00 am on Friday.
