Dhaka, March 18 -- Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) and valiant freedom fighter Syed Sirajul Islam passed away on Monday. He was 75.

Sirajul breathed his last at 9:30 am on Monday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka, according to a press release from the Police Headquarters.

He was survived by his wife, three sons numerous admirers and relatives to mourn his death, reports BSS.

Sirajul will be buried today in the family graveyard at Baliadanga village under Sadar Thana in Magura district.

The namaj-e-janaja of the deceased was held at SI Shiru Mia Auditorium at Rajarbagh Police Lines at 10 am today (Tuesday).
