Dhaka, April 8 -- Five people, including two women, were killed, and 33 others were injured when a bus veered off the road and crashed into an electric pole before overturning in Bakhunda area of Sadar upazila of Faridpur district on Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 11:00 am when a bus belonging to 'Farabi Paribahan' was travelling from Muksudpur.

Witnesses reported that the bus crashed into the electric pole and flipped over after the driver lost control of the vehicle, reports UNB.

Among the deceased, three were identified as Joar Sardar, 65, and his son Iman, 28, hailing from Sharekandi village, along with Bharoti Rani from Nagarkanda upazila.

The identities of the remaining two victims have not yet been confirmed.
