Dhaka, March 13 -- The first namaz-e-janaza for eminent entrepreneur and philanthropist Syed Manzur Elahi has been held.

Distinguished individuals and people from all walks of life attended the prayer.

The namaz-e-janaza was conducted on Thursday around 10:30 am at on the East West University premises in Dhaka.

Another namaz-e-janaza will be held after Zuhr prayers at Azad Masjid in Gulshan-2.

He would be laid to rest at Banani graveyard next to the grave of his wife Niloufer Manzur.

Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairman of Apex Group, died at the age of 83 while receiving treatment at a hospital in Singapore. He had been suffering from various age-related illnesses for some time.
