Dhaka, March 31 -- The first Eid-ul-Azha congregation was held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka on Monday.
Mosque's pesh Imam Hafez Mufti Maulana Muhibbullahil Baki led the prayer at 7:00 am.
Later, a special munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of Bangladesh and welfare of the people as well as the Muslim Ummah.
Devotees gathered for the service from different parts of the capital around 6:00 am, wearing pyjama pants and Punjabi kurtas, with skullcaps on their heads, and scented attar on their bodies. Children accompanied their parents and guardians.
Heavy security measures were in place around the Eid prayer service. Security archways were set up at each gate, reports bdnews24.com.
